Introduction

Differentiationdaily.com is the work of Paula Klutch, a teacher and author of 4 books that focus on differentiated instruction (DI) and universal design for learning (UDL). The site is a curated collection of links to materials that are designed for teachers in diverse classrooms.

Purpose

The site is designed to connect teachers with tools that help them in differentiating their assignments appropriately for the diversity in their classes. For example, an art teacher could suggest students use some of the available recommended resources to help them overcome their own weaknesses in completing an assignment by suggesting they use the grahic materials available on one of the recommended sites in order to create a derivative work or a language teacher might suggest using those materials as the inspiration for a story and then to use as accompanying images. Other students might be able to self-start but others may use this step up to complete the assignment.

Relevance

The link to DI is not always immediately apparent in her entries but with some review and consideration of context,

Positives

The site is broken down into subject areas to make it easy to access content that is relevant to the area you're working in.

Negatives/Limitations

Unfortunately, like all curated resources, the links go stale over time and some end up as broken links. Her curation doesn't provide stand-alone information so without the supporting link, it loses its value. While this wasn't a big problem in my experience I encountered a couple of broken links fairly quickly, so it's a consideration in the value of the resource.

Reliability

Paula is a special education teacher and holds a masters degree from Harvard and a PhD from Univerty of Wisconsin. She is a frequent public speaker on inclusion and differentiated learning at universities and public forums in the United States.
